Jefferson & Madison Gowns
We have two styles of doctoral gowns, the Jefferson and the Madison. Both the Jefferson and the Madison styles are available with traditional black velvet, or the color representing the field of study. Optional cording, used to highlight the velvet edging, is available in an array of colors on either style gown. The most typical use of cording is to show a particular field of study. For example, an EdD degree could feature black velvet, outlined in Lt Blue cording.

The Jefferson shown with black velvet and optional cording, is a simple design, featuring fully lined bell sleeves, and a zipper closure. The Madison, shown with PhD Blue velvet, represents academic tailoring at its very best. Fine pleating frames the velvet panels from the hemline, up over the shoulders, to a point in the center back of the yoke.

The Madison features a zipper closure and fully lined bell sleeves, which are finished off with a cuff at the wrist. The Madison has more fullness in the body of the robe, and a pocket slit is added to allow access to clothing beneath the robe.

Fabric Selections: All fabrics have been carefully chosen for their beauty, durability and wrinkle-resistance. Order A Fabric Swatch >>

Tropical Wool
Since the introduction of this fabric, it has grown to be our most popular. Tropical Wool is a lightweight yet strong worsted wool blended fabric that is comfortable both in winter and summer making it "seasonless". Wool absorbs up to 30% of its own weight in moisture, which means it absorbs body vapor, keeping you from feeling damp or clammy. The use of long staple fibers makes worsted wool naturally wrinkle resistant.
Pavillion
Another 100% polyester faille, Pavillion is a very rich looking traditional fabric with horizontal lines. Pavillion drapes beautifully but is very tightly woven causing it to be a warmer fabric that is recommended to keep you comfortable in colder seasons. A slightly brighter fabric that tends to capture light very elegantly.
Dalton Crepe
Historically Dalton Crepe has been one of our most popular fabrics. A 100% polyester crepe, Dalton is two-way textured, causing the weave to be smoother and giving the fabric more substance. Dalton Crepe is a very breathable fabric, meaning that it doesn't trap in heat. Dalton Crepe is also treated with a stain release finish.
Cachet
An extremely popular choice for a summer or for warmer climates. Our lightest weight fabric ever! 100% polyester.
Venture
A 100% polyester gabardine that is a very durable fabric with an added finish that releases stains easily. Venture is one of our most popular fabrics.
Peach Skin
A fabric that has the luxurious feel of suede but in a lightweight 100% polyester fabric. Perfect for special ocasions, but with performance that will allow you to wear it everyday. The softness of the material creates a graceful flow as you move. Extremely durable and wrinkle resistant.
Regency Poplin
Economically priced, Regency Poplin is a blend of 65% Fortrel and 35% Cotton. Because of the cotton content, Regency Poplin tends to wrinkle as well.
Roosevelt Bamboo
Made from 50% Bamboo and 50% Recycled Plastic Bottles. Roosevelt is a luxurious feeling, eco-friendly fabric with an elegant look. The bamboo fiber is mixed with recycled plastic pellets making the fabric so lightweight and comfortable you will be looking for an excuse to wear your regalia.
